Construction/Contractors Version Implementation Services

We have over 600 person years of safety consulting experience on our team to help support your implementation.  We know what works and we want to share that with you.  

All SafeStart and SafeTrack facilitators must be certified as a trainer in a public or ion-house session. View our calendar for the latest workshop schedule.

Our standard implementation offers services that empower your organization with the leadership, champions, resources and action plans that will ensure continuous improvement and years of sustainability.

1. Leadership Introduction [Agenda]
   This is a 4 hour workshop for on-site leadership (senior site executives to first line supervisors).  The SafeStart concepts are introduced and “sold”, gaining leadership buy-in and active support for the implementation.

   Resources required:
   Leading SafeStart Workbook for each attendee

2. Employee Overview Sessions [Agenda]
   One of the most effective ways to launch the SafeStart and SafeTrack initiative is to have a Certified SafeStart Consultant conduct Employee Overview sessions for all employees for SafeStart and SafeTrack.  

   Resources required:
   SafeStart Construction/Contractors employee license fee for each employee. For SafeTrack implementations a SafeTrack Unit 1 Workbook is recommended for each employee.

3. SafeStart Trainer Certification [Agenda]
   In this workshop your in-house trainers complete the full SafeStart program, receive training instruction (and insider tips) from a world class trainer, and deliver SafeStart to their colleagues.

   Resources required:
   SafeStart Construction/Contractors Leader’s Kit for each trainer

   These trainers then deliver the SafeStart units to all employees. There are 2 sessions each taking 2 hours, ideally delivered one week apart or, at the most, two weeks apart.

   Note that SafeStart consultants can deliver all of your SafeStart training should that be an appropriate solution for your site.

4. Steering Committee  [Agenda]
   In a 4-hour training session, we give your SafeStart Steering Committee the training and resources to build concrete action plans to support SafeStart, both during the implementation and as an ongoing component of your regular Safety Management System.

   Resources required:
   Steering Committee Binder for each member
   Note: Participants must have attended at least one of the Leadership Introduction Employee Overview or Trainer Certification sessions.

5. Leadership Follow-up [Agenda]
   This 4-hour workshop is held at the conclusion of the SafeStart training implementation to ensure site leadership provides ongoing support for SafeStart.  Attendees complete the Leading SafeStart workbook to draft specific commitments for on-the-job and off-the-job activities.
6. SafeTrack Observer Training  [Agenda]
   There are 4 classroom sessions each taking 3 hours, delivered in four half day sessions or in two straight days.  Each session consists of video exercises, group discussion and self-study workbook activities. In additional sessions, the facilitator then takes the observer “on-the-job” to conduct real observations followed by an assessment.

   The observers trained in SafeTrack are usually a 50/50 mix of supervisors and permanent hourly employees. Normally 20% of the workforce is trained in the first year, with an additional 10% trained each subsequent year. This course will also teach people how to record and track their observations so the data can be analyzed and improvement strategies can be developed.

7. Follow-up Site Visit [Agenda]
   One year after your core SafeStart employee training has been completed, we schedule annual on-site follow up visits to ensure your implementation is going smoothly and that you will continue to be successful in the long-term. The 1-Day visits allow us to have some dedicated time with the safety manager, the steering committee, supervisors, and the site manager. We also conduct some informal employee interviews during a site tour. Following these activities we summarize our findings, discuss plans and review milestones you should work toward.

(Optional) SafeTrack Trainer Certification Session [Agenda]

In these 3-day workshops your in-house trainers complete the full SafeTrack program, receive training instruction (and insider tips) from a world class trainer, and deliver a SafeTrack unit to their colleagues.  Each trainer then spends half a day, 1 on 1, with the consultant for “on the job” observation practice.
